Liska Mey

Liska Mey is a classically trained violinist who studied with Mrs Nikki Fyvie, Mr Pierre Malan and Dr Robert Riggs. Her playing style fuses folk, rock and pop with classical elements.
She holds a MMus in Music Technology from the Nelson Mandela Metropolitan University (NMMU). Since 2005 Mrs Mey has been performing at weddings, shows and corporate functions. In 2010 she played in the band for Woodridge College’s production of “Our House” and the Gilbert and Sullivan Society’s production of “Back to Broadway” and in 2014 for Collegiate Girls’ High School’s production of “Legally Blonde”.
As a member of the Eastern Cape Philharmonic Orchestra (ECPO) she performed with Zolani Mahola from Freshly Ground in 2012 and Nianell in 2014. Mrs Mey has been performing with the talented Faye Gatley since 2010 as a member of Faye Gatley and the Soloflares.
She currently holds a full-time teaching position at Collegiate Girls’ High School, teaching subject music, bowed strings and voice.
Her research paper entitled “The Death of the Album: A case study of NMMU music consumers’ perception of the notion of the album format and the album experience” written with Dr Rudi Bower (Nelson Mandela University) has recently been accepted for publication in UNISA’s Musicus journal.
Mrs Mey has been a member of the Golden Key International Honour society since 2007.
