SACE Information

In response to a letter from a group of music educators in the South African school system, the documentation below addresses their concerns regarding discrimination and unjust refusal of permanent registration with SACE. The educators, employed full-time as music teachers, express frustration over SACE’s requirement for a PGCE qualification for permanent registration, without consideration for degrees and years of experience. They advocate for a Music subject-based PGCE course to meet the diverse needs of South African schools, as well as recognition of teaching diplomas and licentiates from institutions like UNISA and internationally recognized Examination Boards. This introduction highlights the educators’ plight and sets the stage for further discussion on equitable registration practices in the field of music education.
