2025 Editor’s Report

The 2025 issue of the SAMT magazine celebrated the diversity, creativity and resilience of music education, showcasing how music connects, inspires and empowers learners and educators alike. We also acknowledged the achievements and congratulated all those who had participated and had achieved excellent results in major competitions. We reported on the 2025 National SASMT conference and shared updates on festivals that reflected the ongoing vibrancy and excellence of our musical community. The magazine also featured a section in which music practitioners offered guidance on caring for one’s instrument The articles featured in the 2025 issue covered several topics related to music education. Articles by music educators from abroad contributed to the international footprint that we seek to establish. As always, we also paused to honour those we had lost and celebrated the lives and contributions of Joseph Stanford, Louis van der Watt and Martin Watts.
